On a cool Friday night at Dodger Stadium, the Pittsburgh Pirates shut out the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-to-0. Yoshinobu Yamamoto didn’t perform as well as he had this season but deserved to win. The Dodgers couldn’t do anything offensively against Paul Skenes. The Dodger bullpen of Alex Vesia, Luis Garcia, and Noah Davis performed outstandingly.
Before the game, Dave Roberts announced Blake Snell had imaging yesterday, and it revealed nothing out of ordinary. The Dodgers will slow play Snell until he feels comfortable playing catch. He received an injection to take down inflammation.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto battled control problems in the first and allowed a run.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the first.
Despite a walk, Yamamoto had a scoreless second inning.
Teoscar Hernández led off the second with a single. The Dodgers didn’t score.
Yamamoto had a scoreless third.
With an out in the third, Andy Pages doubled but was erased on a rundown while Shohei Ohtani went to second. The Dodgers didn’t score.
Yamamoto had a scoreless fourth.
Freddie Freeman opened up the fourth with a triple but didn’t score.
In the fifth, Yamamoto allowed another run thanks to Max Muncy’s throwing error. He allowed another run.
With two outs in the fifth, Pages doubled but didn’t score.
Alex Vesia relieved Yamamoto in the sixth and faced the minimum.
With an out in the sixth, Freeman singled but didn’t score.
In the seventh, Luis Garcia relieved Vesia and was perfect.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the seventh.
Noah Davis relieved Garcia in the eighth and hurled a scoreless inning.
To open the eighth, Pages singled but was erased on Mookie Betts’ force play.
Davis continued pitching in the ninth and faced the minimum.
With an out in the ninth, Tommy Edman walked and didn’t score.
