On a beautiful Saturday night at Dodger Stadium, Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched well, and the Dodgers scored enough to win. Freddie Freeman produced with runners in scoring position. Evan Phillips collected his first save since coming off the IL. The first place Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the last place Colorado Rockies 4-to-1.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a double and a walk in the first and hurled a scoreless inning.
The top of the order for the Dodgers did nothing in the first. If they don’t wake up soon, the Dodgers will continue having offensive problems.
Yamamoto delayed the second inning for some reason. To lead off the second, Yamamoto hung a curveball for a double and allowed a sacrifice fly. He only allowed a run in the second inning.
With one out in the second, Teoscar Hernandez singled. The Dodgers used two errors to score the tying run. After Andy Pages singled, Jason Heyward doubled him in.
In the third, Yamamoto allowed an infield single but didn’t allow a run.
With an out in the third, Shohei Ohtani walked and stole second. His hamstring bruise must feel better than it did last weekend in Cincinnati. Ohtani was picked off. Freddie Freeman singled and went to second on a wild pitch but was stranded.
In the fourth, Yamamoto hurled a perfect inning.
Teoscar Hernandez singled to open the fourth inning but was erased when Gavin Lux hit into a double play. Pages singled, and Heyward walked. Kikê Hernandez singled in Pages and moved Heyward to third. Mookie Betts’ infield fly ended the scoring threat.
Yamamoto allowed a single, but Will Smith caught the runner to end the fifth.
In the fifth, Freeman tripled and scored on Smith’s double.
