Wrobleski Isn’t Ready for the Major Leagues

On a cold night at Nationals Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Washington Nationals 8-to-2. Justin Wrobleski was not good as he filled in the injured Blake Snell. Ben Casparius and Luis Garcia were excellent in relief. Andy Pages and Kiké Hernández had solo home runs.

With an out in the first, Mookie Betts singled. The Dodgers wasted a scoring opportunity.

Justin Wrobleski made his first major league start of the 2025 season. He allowed a lead-off single. Then, he gave up a two-run homer. He went 1-2-3 after the homer.

Michael Conforto began the second inning with a walk. Kiké Hernández walked. Andy Pages hit into a force play to erase Kiké Hernández, and the Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on a scoring opportunity.

Wrobleski allowed a single with two outs in the second. He walked a batter. He walked another batter to load the bases and issued a walk to score a run. He allowed a two-run single. He struck out the last batter.

In the third, the Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively. Shohei Ohtani might have hurt his surgically repaired shoulder.

Wrobleski was perfect in the third.

Teoscar Hernández singled to open the fourth. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on a scoring opportunity.

Wrobleski allowed a lead-off single to open the fourth and stole second. He allowed a single moving the runner to third. He gave up a sacrifice fly. He gave up another two-run homer. He didn’t allow anything else.

To open the fifth, Andy Pages socked a solo home run. With two outs, Betts walked. Tommy Edman flew out to end the inning.

To start the fifth, Wrobleski allowed a double. He didn’t allow anything else.

With two outs in the sixth, Kiké Hernández reached on an error. Max Muncy struck out to end the inning.

Ben Casparius relieved Wrobleski in the sixth, and he allowed an infield single with two outs. He gave up another single. He didn’t allow a run.

Pages had an infield single to start the seventh inning. Miguel Rojas singled Pages to second. The Dodgers didn’t score.

Casparius continued pitching in the seventh with a perfect frame.

With two outs in the eighth, Kiké Hernández blasted a solo home run. Max Muncy singled. Pages walked. Austin Barnes struck out to end the inning.

Luis Garcia relieved Casparius in the eighth. Garcia allowed a single with two outs but nothing else.

To lead off the ninth, Ohtani singled. Ohtani went to third in defensive uncaring. Hunter Feduccia walked. Feduccia took second.
