On a beautiful Friday night, Pride night, at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the San Francisco Giants 6-to-2. While Yoshinobu Yamamoto didn’t have it, Logan Webb was great, holding the Dodgers to two hits. Justin Wrobleski saved the bullpen by pitching 3.1 innings, allowing a mere run. Teoscar Hernández hit a solo home run. the Dodgers and the Giants are tied atop in the Western Division.
The home plate umpire had a bad night. He couldn’t keep the strike zone consistent for both sides.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a solo home run to Willy Adames with an out in the first but nothing else.
Logan Webb struck out Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts in the first while the Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively.
Yamamoto allowed a lead-off single in the second and issued a walk with an out. He escaped from the jam scorelessly.
Will Smith walked to open the second and moved to second on a wild pitch. Teoscar Hernández walked. Max Muncy hit into a force play. Smith scored on a sacrifice fly by Andy Pages. The Dodgers didn’t score any more.
In the third, Yamamoto issued a lead-off walk and another walk with an out. He loaded the bases with a walk. He gave up a grand slam. He allowed a double. He got out of the third.
With two outs in the third, Betts walked but was stranded.
Yamamoto continued pitching in the fourth and was perfect.
With an out in the fourth, Teoscar Hernández singled, but Muncy hit into a double play.
Yamamoto continued pitching in the fifth and allowed a single. He allowed a double, but the runner made a base-running error that turned into an out. He issued a walk. Justin Wrobleski relieved Yamamoto with two outs. He retired the last batter in the inning.
In the fifth, the Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively.
Wrobleski was perfect in the sixth.
In the sixth, the Dodgers went down in order.
Wrobleski allowed a two-out single and double. He escaped from the jam scorelessly.
With an out in the seventh, Teoscar Hernández blasted a solo home run. the Dodgers didn’t score any more.
Wrobleski continued pitching in the eighth and allowed a two-out solo home run. He retired the last batter of the inning.
In the eighth, the Dodgers went down in order.
In the ninth, Wrobleski continued pitching and allowed a two-out single. He finished the inning with no problem.
Betts walked to begin the ninth and was stranded.
