Yu Darvish baffled the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon at Petco Park. The San Diego Padres blanked the Dodgers 4-to-0.

Walker Buehler after missing almost two years didn’t have the pinpoint control required to be successful. He has good velocity, but his mechanics are off. The Dodgers don’t have a choice, except for keep running Buehler out there.

After Shohei Ohtani experienced a tight lower back during Saturday’s game, the Dodgers rested him as a precaution. Ohtani should return on Monday in San Francisco. It is doubtful Ohtani would have affected the final score.

In the first, the Dodgers’ offense was silent.

Making his second start after his second Tommy John surgery, Walker Buehler allowed solo home runs to Fernando Tatis, Jr., and Jake Cronenworth.

Again, Yu Darvish quieted the Dodgers in the second.

Buehler was in trouble in the second, but he struck out Tatis to end the inning without any damage.

Darvish retired the Dodgers on nine pitches in the third.

Thanks to the wonderful infield defense, Buehler retired the Padres in the third.

The Dodgers put up no protest in the fourth.

In the fourth, Buehler allowed a single, a stolen base, a walk, and hit Ha-Seong Kim to load the bases with one out. Dave Roberts relieved Buehler with Ryan Yarbrough.  In change for an out, he allowed a run. He hit Tatis with a pitch. Yarbrough got out of the jam.

In the fifth with two outs, Andy Pages walked. Kiké Hernàndez singled moving Pages to second. Miguel Rojas ended the threat with a flyball.

Gus Varland relieved Yarbrough in the fifth. He allowed a bunt hit, but Varland picked off the runner. He allowed a solo home run to Xander Bogaerts, who was slumping. While he allowed another single, Varland got out of a jam.

Mookie Betts doubled in the sixth but didn’t score.

Alex Vesia was  perfect in the sixth, and Nabil Crismatt was good in the seventh and eighth.

The Dodgers couldn’t do anything with the Padres’ pitching.
