On a beautiful Saturday night at Dodger Stadium, Clayton Kershaw turned back the clock. He pitched seventh scoreless innings in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 11-to-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants to reclaim first place in the Western Division. Shohei Ohtani had two home runs, and Teoscar Hernández had a two-run shot.
Clayton Kershaw issued a lead-off walk but faced the minimum in the first.
Shohei Ohtani sent the ball to the people for a home run to start the first. Freddie Freeman walked but was erased on a double play hit into by Will Smith.
Kershaw was perfect in the second.
To start the second, Teoscar Hernández walked and Max Muncy walked. Andy Pages singled in Teoscar Hernández. Michael Conforto doubled in Muncy and moved Pages to third. Ohtani was intentionally walked. Mookie Betts doubled in Pages and Conforto. Freeman walked to load the bases. Ohtani scored on Smith’s sacrifice fly. The Dodgers didn’t score any more.
Kershaw allowed a double to begin the third but nothing else.
Muncy doubled to begin the third and scored on Hyeseong Kim’s single. Ohtani and Betts walked. The Dodgers didn’t score any more.
Kershaw was perfect in the fourth.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the fourth.
Kershaw gave up a double to start the fifth but nothing else.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the fifth.
Kershaw allowed a single to start the sixth but nothing else.
Ohtani sent another one to the people to begin the sixth. Smith singled with two outs before Teoscar Hernández blasted one. Muncy walked. The Dodgers didn’t score any more.
Kershaw continued pitching in the seventh with a perfect inning.
Conforto started the seventh with a walk and was erased on a force play by Ohtani. Dalton Rushing walked, but the Dodgers wasted a scoring opportunity.
Michael Kopech relieved Kershaw in the eighth with a perfect inning.
With an out in the eighth, Miguel Rojas hit a solo home run, and Muncy singled.
Kiké Hernández relieved Kopech in the ninth and walked a batter with an out. He walked another batter with two outs. He walked another to load the bases. He gave up a grand slam. He allowed two singles. Rojas committed a throwing error that scored a run. Anthony Banda relieved Hernández with two outs in the ninth and retired the last out.
