The Los Angeles Dodgers scored five runs in the first but never scored again. Tyler Glasnow was great for seven innings and allowed three runs. Blake Treinen blew a save, and Alex Vesia didn’t perform well in the tenth. On a beautiful Tuesday night at Petco Stadium, the Dodgers lost to the San Diego Padres 6-to-5 in the tenth.
In the first, Shohei Ohtani walked, stole second, and went to third on Will Smith’s single. Gavin Lux had a sacrifice fly. Jason Heyward doubled Smith to third. Andy Pages singled in Smith and Heyward. Cavan Biggio hit a two-run homer.
Tyler Glasnow looked better than his first start off the IL. He used 11 pitches to hurl a perfect first inning.
To lead off the second, Manny Machado homered. Glasnow breezed through the second.
To open the third, Lux singled. The Dodgers stranded him at first.
Glasnow allowed a double and a single good for a run with two outs in the third. He allowed another run-producing double. He finally retired the last batter of the inning.
In the fourth, the Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively.
In the fourth, Glasnow was perfect.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the fifth.
In the fifth, Glasnow faced the minimum despite allowing a single.
Pages and Biggio walked with two outs in the sixth but didn’t score.
Despite issuing a walk and allowing an infield single, Glasnow hurled a scoreless sixth.
To open the seventh, Nick Ahmed singled and stole second. Smith and Teoscar Hernàndez walked. Pinch hitting for Heyward, Austin Barnes grounded out to end the scoring threat.
Glasnow was perfect in the seventh.
Thanks to the Padres’ defense, the Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the eighth.
Anthony Banda relieved Glasnow in the eighth with a perfect inning.
In the ninth with an out, Smith singled but didn’t score.
Blake Treinen relieved Banda in the ninth. Machado homered again. Treinen allowed the game-tying home run.
Even with Lux on second, the Dodgers did nothing offensively in the tenth.
Alex Vesia relieved Treinen in the tenth. He walked the first batter to face him. The second batter sacrificed. Vesia intentionally walked the third batter to load the bases. A pitch clock violation was called, but Vesia allowed the winning hit.
