On a gorgeous Tuesday afternoon at Camelback Ranch, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Chicago White Sox 9-to-6.
Bobby Miller made his Cactus League debut on Tuesday. In the 2023 season, he made his major league debut and pitched the most innings of his life. While he had a poor start in the NLDS against the Arizona Diamondbacks, he was the anchor in the Dodger starting rotation. He allowed a run in the first inning, but his stuff looked good. Miller had a perfect second inning.
With an out in the bottom of the second inning, Max Muncy singled and went to third on Teoscar Hernández’s single. The Dodgers stranded the runners.
Michael Petersen, from Great Britain, pitched a perfect 0.2 inning.
Michael Grove came in and retired the last batter of the third.
In the third inning, Jose Ramos walked, moved to third on Mookie Betts’ single, and scored on Shohei Ohtani’s double play.
Grove continued to pitch in the fourth when he allowed a single, double, and a three-run homer.
Matt Gage started the fifth inning and pitched a perfect inning. Since coming from the New York Yankees, Gage has been impressive. He should be on the Opening Day roster if he continues pitching well.
In the fifth, Ramos had an infield single, went to second, and scored on Ohtani’s two-run homer.
Blake Treinen, trying to come back from shoulder surgery, allowed a lead-off single but nothing else.
Jason Heyward had an opposite-field single in the sixth.
Gavin Stone allowed a run in the seventh.
Chris Okey, a prospect catcher for the Dodgers, hit a grand slam in the eighth.
Justin Wilson, a lefthander who is trying to make the Dodgers, allowed a run but finished the ninth.
