The Dodgers Released Chris Taylor

On Sunday, Tommy Edman was activated from the IL. He was dealing with ankle inflammation. The Dodgers made the difficult decision to release Chris Taylor. With the emergence of Hyeseong Kim, the Dodgers didn’t need Taylor.

The Dodgers obtained Taylor from the Seattle Mariners for Zach Lee, a top pitching prospect, who never panned out anywhere. Immediately, Taylor impacted the Dodgers with his versatility.

In 2017, Taylor was the everyday center fielder. He was the co-MVP in the NLCS against the Chicago Cubs. In the 2018 NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers, he made an unbelievable catch, propelling the Dodgers to the World Series.

He was crucial for the 2019 and 2020 Dodgers. Taylor’s best season was 2021 when he was an All-Star and hit a walk-off home run in the National League Wild Card game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The last two seasons he struggled offensively since he fought through injuries.

As a Dodger, Taylor had a .250 batting average with 108 home runs and 433 RBI.
