On Dave Roberts’ birthday, the Los Angeles Dodgers slaughtered the New York Yankees 18-to-2. Max Muncy hit two three-run homers, Andy Pages had a solo homer, Hyeseong Kim had a two-run shot, and Dalton Rushing had a three-run shot. Tommy Edman and Kim had four hits.

Mookie Betts hit his toe on a dresser in a darkened bedroom and broke the toe. He will miss the New York Yankees series and then will be re-evaluated. If Betts can tolerate the pain and wear a shoe, he can play.

Landon Knack issued a walk to start the game, and he coaxed Aaron Judge into a double play.

Shohei Ohtani singled to open the first, and Freddie Freeman singled. Will Smith singled in Ohtani. Max Muncy singled in Freeman. Andy Pages walked to load the bases. Michael Conforto had a sacrifice fly. Tommy Edman singled in Muncy. Hyeseong Kim walked to load the bases.

In the second, Knack was perfect.

Teoscar Hernández walked to start the second, and Friedman walked. Smith hit into a force play to erase Friedman. Muncy blasted a three-run homer, his two hundredth of his major league career. Conforto walked. Edman doubled in Conforto. Kim hit a two-run homer.

Knack allowed a single to start the second and issued a walk.  Kim turned a double play.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the third.

Judge went yard to start the fourth. Knack retired the next three hitters.

With two outs in the fourth, Conforto walked but was stranded.

To start the fifth, Knack walked a hitter and allowed a double, moving the runner to third. He wiggled out of the jam scorelessly.

To begin the fifth, Kim singled, and Ohtani singled Kim to third. Freeman doubled in Kim. Muncy hit his second three-run homer of the game. Pages walked but was left.

Judge singled but was thrown out at second by Kim. Cody Bellinger singled but was left.

Edman and Kim singled to start the sixth. The Dodgers stranded the bases loaded.

Anthony Banda relieved Knack in the seventh. With two outs, he issued a walk but left the runner.

Pages slugged a solo home run.

Chris Stratton relieved Banda in the eighth and allowed a home run to Judge.

Edman singled to begin the eighth, and Kim followed with a single. Dalton Rushing hit his first major league home run, a three-run shot.

Since 1977, I have been an avid Dodger fan. In high school, I became my school's baseball statistician and vowed to have a career in baseball. After I graduated from Pasadena City College, I started writing about my favorite team. In August 2001, I was featured in Her Blue Haven by Bill Plaschke. I was a freelance writer for Major League Baseball Advanced Media from 2001 to 2018. This website provides you a professional outlook on the Los Angeles Dodgers. No article will take you more than two minutes to read. Missed a game? No problem. You can read a game summary in two minutes or less.
