Stone Is Great; Lux And Muncy Provide the Offense

On a night when Justin Turner as a Seattle Mariner returned to Dodger Stadium, Gavin Stone pitched seven two-hit innings. Gavin Lux and Max Muncy blasted home runs in the eighth inning. The bullpen was perfect. The Los Angeles Dodgers shut out the Seattle Mariners 3-to-0.

The Dodgers put Austin Barnes with a fractured toe on the IL. They recalled Hunter Feduccia. They released Nick Ahmed and sent down Andy Pages to Oklahoma City. Max Muncy is back. Tommy Edman makes his 2024 debut today.

Freddie Freeman will play with a hairline fracture in his middle finger but will play with it.

Gavin Stone hurled a perfect first inning.

In the second, Stone allowed a single to open the inning but didn’t allow anything else.

With an out in the second, Will Smith walked but was left.

Stone pitched a perfect third.

With two outs in the third, Mookie Betts walked but was stranded.

Stone hurled a perfect fourth.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the fourth.

Stone allowed a single to Justin Turner but was erased on a double play to end the fifth.

Stone allowed a single in the sixth but stranded the runner.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the sixth.

To open the seventh, Stone allowed an infield single, but the runner was erased by a beautiful double play by Freeman.

Gavin Lux blasted a solo home run with an out in the seventh. Smith was hit by a pitch. Max Muncy blasted a two-run homer in his first major league game since May 15th. In his season debut, Tommy Edman singled and stole second. Shohei Ohtani walked, and Betts walked to load the bases. Freeman hit in bad luck to strand the runners.

Joe Kelly relieved Stone in the eighth with a perfect frame.

With an out in the eighth, Lux walked and was stranded.

Evan Phillips relieved Kelly in the ninth with a perfect inning.
