Stone Gives the Dodgers a Perfect Home Stand

Under blue skies on Wednesday afternoon, the Los Angeles Dodgers finished a perfect six-game home stand. Gavin Stone pitched seven great innings, and Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernandez provided offense. In less than two hours, the first place Dodgers beat the last place Miami Marlins 3-to-1.

Gavin Lux looked great during the first inning.

With two outs in the first, Freddie Freeman singled. Thanks to a balk and wild pitch, Teoscar Hernández singled in Freeman.

Gavin Stone had a nine-pitch second.

In the third, though allowing an infield single, Stone had an easy inning.

Stone allowed to a solo home run to lead off the fourth. An infield single and single followed. Stone started a beautiful double play.

Stone was dominating the last place Marlins in the fifth. Max Muncy continued playing top notch defense at third.

Pages singled but was erased on a double play by Gavin Lux.

Stone had a quick sixth.

The Dodgers have done nothing offensively this afternoon. With two outs in the sixth, Freeman doubled and scored on T. Hernandez’s homer.

Mookie Betts had a misplayed ground ball, but Stone went through the seventh inning without allowing the Marlins to score.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything in the seventh.

Michael Grove pitched a perfect eighth in relief of Stone.

With an out in the eighth, Betts singled.

Daniel Hudson, in Evan Phillips’ absence, closed out the game by pitching a perfect ninth.
