Shohei Ohtani was named the National League MVP unanimously. He became the first player since Frank Robinson in the 1960s to win an MVP in both leagues. He also was the first DH to win an MVP.

After signing a record-setting $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Ohtani had a great season as a Dodger. He became the first player to have 50 or more home runs and 50 or more stolen bases.

When the Dodgers dealt with dozens of injuries, Ohtani played 159 games. He had a .310 batting average, 54 home runs, 130 RBI, and 59 stolen bases. Whenever the Dodgers needed a big hit, Ohtani usually delivered. For his fortieth home run, Ohtani had a walk-off grand slam.

Ohtani propelled the Dodgers to their first full-season world championship since 1988. While he struggled in the postseason with bases empty, he was brilliant with runners on base.

Ohtani made a huge impact on the 2024 Dodgers. If Ohtani doesn’t throw a pitch for the Dodgers, Ohtani will be valuable.

Since 1977, I have been an avid Dodger fan. In high school, I became my school's baseball statistician and vowed to have a career in baseball. After I graduated from Pasadena City College, I started writing about my favorite team. In August 2001, I was featured in Her Blue Haven by Bill Plaschke. I was a freelance writer for Major League Baseball Advanced Media from 2001 to 2018. This website provides you a professional outlook on the Los Angeles Dodgers. No article will take you more than two minutes to read. Missed a game? No problem. You can read a game summary in two minutes or less.
