The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned James Outman, Landon Knack, and Matt Sauer to Triple-A. These roster moves aren’t surprising to anyone.

Since the end of the 2023 season, Outman hadn’t looked like a major leaguer. He is a good defensive center fielder but doesn’t have a major league-ready swing. During this spring training, Outman couldn’t make consistent contact. By now, the Dodgers must wonder if Outman can regain the stroke ever. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Dodgers traded Outman.

Both Matt Sauer and Landon Knack are stretched out, and they don’t have any room for them in their starting rotation. The Dodgers don’t want these pitchers not to sit on the bench. If the Dodgers have an injured starter, they will promote either Sauer or Knack.
