River Ryan is a major league starter and gave the Los Angeles Dodgers what they needed. Although Alex Vesia allowed a two-run homer, the Dodger bullpen performed better than yesterday. Even without Freddie Freeman, the Dodgers scored six runs thanks to Gavin Lux and Teoscar Hernández’s home runs. The Dodgers beat the Houston Astros 6-to-2.

River Ryan had four major league pitches, and Austin Barnes helped the rookie navigate the Astros lineup. While Ryan walked the first two batters of the game, he didn’t allow a hit until the fifth. For the first time in his professional career, he threw 90 pitches.

Immediately after Vesia came into the game, he allowed a two-run homer, but he pitched wonderfully in the seventh inning. Joe Kelly performed well in the eighth, and Brent Honeywell hurled a great ninth inning to preserve the important victory.

The Dodgers had a good balanced offense. In the fourth, James Outman homered. In the sixth, after Teoscar Hernández singled, Gavin Lux blasted a two-run homer. In the eighth, Teoscar Hernández homered. After Lux walked and Jason Heyward  singled, Cavan Biggio singled in Lux.
