After a two o’clock landing in Miami, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitching staff let the team down. When a team scores nine runs, they should win. The Dodgers didn’t. Shohei Ohtani blasted a two-run homer, Miguel Rojas homered, and Max Muncy drove in four. Bobby Miller pitched awfully for two innings. The only Dodger reliever who hurled well was Brusdar Graterol. The Dodgers lost to the Miami Marlins 11-to-9.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the first inning.

Bobby Miller was looking to rebound from a rough start against the Chicago Cubs. He allowed a single to start the game for the Marlins. He allowed another single. An error by Gavin Lux scored a run. He allowed a run-scoring single. A swinging bunt hit filled the bases, but he got out of the jam with only two runs.

To open the second, Teoscar Hernández walked and was erased on Tommy Edman’s ground ball.

Miller gave up a double to begin the second. He already had 40 pitches with an out in the second, and the Dodger bullpen had worked eight innings since the end of Saturday’s game. Hunter Feduccia singled with an out in the third. Shohei Ohtani launched his 48th home run of the year. Freddie Freeman singled, and Teoscar Hernández singled. Max Muncy doubled in Freeman and Hernández to tie the game.

Michael Grove relieved Miller in the third and promptly allowed a solo home run. He walked a batter. Dave Roberts had no choice except to rely on the fatigued bullpen. Grove escaped a jam.

Miguel Rojas blasted a solo home run to tie the game with an out in the fourth.

Grove continued pitching in the fourth and allowed a double because Teoscar Hernández couldn’t catch a slicing fly ball. He gave up another double that scored a go-ahead run.

Alex Vesia relieved Grove with two outs in the fourth and allowed a run-scoring single. He finished the inning without allowing any more runs.

Mookie Betts tripled to start the fifth. Freeman hit a sacrifice fly.

Vesia continued pitching in the fifth. Despite allowing a runner, Vesia pitched a scoreless inning.

Freeman walked, but the Dodgers didn’t score.

Brusdar Graterol pitched well in the seventh inning.

Daniel Hudson relieved Graterol in the eighth. With an out, Hudson allowed a single and then a two-run homer.

Mookie Betts singled with an out in the ninth. Teoscar Hernández walked. Muncy doubled in both runners.
