Ohtani’s Historic Night Powers Dodgers to Victory

On a picturesque Friday night at Dodger Stadium, Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernández led the offense. The Dodgers’ bullpen performed outstandingly for nine innings. Ohtani had his 52nd home run and 52nd stolen base. The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-to-4.

Tyler Glasnow doesn’t expect to have surgery, but he will undergo more imaging before he can resume throwing. This bothersome right elbow has limited him throughout his major league career. Entering the postseason, the Dodgers must do it without their ace.

Ryan Brasier opened the game for the Dodgers. Mookie Betts made a fantastic defensive play in right field stealing a possible solo home run. Brasier was perfect in the first.

Shohei Ohtani struck out to start the game. Before his at-bat, he received a standing ovation. The Dodgers went down in order.

Joe Kelly relieved Brasier in the second inning. He issued a walk to start the inning and allowed a double moving the runner to third. He issued another walk to load the bases. On a ground out, Kelly allowed a run. For the second out, Kelly struck out a batter, but he plunked a batter to load the bases. He managed to get out of the inning by allowing only one run.

With two outs in the second, Andy Pages singled but was stranded.

Brusdar Graterol relieved Kelly in the third with a perfect frame.

Ohtani singled with two outs in the third but was stranded.

Graterol continued pitching in the fourth with another perfect inning.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the fourth.

Daniel Hudson relieved Graterol in the fifth and allowed a solo home run with two outs. Kiké Hernández committed an error, but Hudson finished without allowing any more damage.

To start the fifth, Andy Pages had a solo home run. Max Muncy doubled with an out, and Ohtani blasted a two-run homer, his 52nd home run.

Alex Vesia relieved Hudson in the sixth but allowed a tying home run with two outs.

To open the sixth, Teoscar Hernández blasted a solo home run. With an out, Will Smith singled but was erased on a force play. The inning finished without any more damage.

Evan Phillips relieved Vesia in the seventh with a 1-2-3- inning.

With an out in the seventh, Tommy Edman batting for Kiké Hernàndez walked. Ohtani had an infield single and stole his 52nd base of the year. Mookie Betts had a sacrifice fly, and Teoscar Hernández had an infield single scoring Ohtani.

Blake Treinen relieved Phillips in the eighth with a 1-2-3 inning.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the eighth.

Michael Kopech relieved Treinen in the ninth. He allowed a solo home run. He didn’t allow anything else.
