Shohei Ohtani had a day in Miami as he began his case to be the best player who ever lived. Plus, he will be going to the postseason for the first time in his major league career.

I have well-documented that I didn’t think the Los Angeles Dodgers needed Ohtani this past off-season. I was an idiot. Shohei Ohtani is the best power hitter I have seen in my 47 years of watching the Dodgers, and that counts Barry Bonds in his power-hitting prime. Ohtani hit the ball hard 95 percent of the time.

Ohtani had his best day as a major leaguer. He won’t pitch in the 2024 season, but he might be the ace of the staff in the 2025 season. In September 2023, Ohtani underwent another Tommy John surgery with internal bracing. Most pitchers need time to recover their form after Tommy John surgery. However, Ohtani is a superhuman who studies how to improve at his love, baseball, almost daily.

On Thursday, Ohtani might have had the best day during his major league career started in 2018. He struggled in the 2019 season when he underwent his first Tommy John surgery. Since the beginning of the 2021 season, Ohtani has dominated baseball offensively. Before this season, he also dominated the league as a right-handed starter.

On Thursday, Ohtani went 6-for-6 with three home runs, two stolen bases, and ten RBI. Plus, he will be in the postseason for the first time in his major league career. When he homered on Thursday, he didn’t only get the baseball just over the wall. He had monstrous shots.

The Dodgers are lucky to have Ohtani on their side. He might be the difference in October from winning a series or going home

Since 1977, I have been an avid Dodger fan. In high school, I became my school's baseball statistician and vowed to have a career in baseball. After I graduated from Pasadena City College, I started writing about my favorite team. In August 2001, I was featured in Her Blue Haven by Bill Plaschke. I was a freelance writer for Major League Baseball Advanced Media from 2001 to 2018. This website provides you a professional outlook on the Los Angeles Dodgers. No article will take you more than two minutes to read. Missed a game? No problem. You can read a game summary in two minutes or less.
