On a picturesque Saturday night at Dodger Stadium, it was not the Dodgers’ night. Roki Sasaki pitched well for five innings despite suffering his first major league loss. Ben Casparius and Luis Garcia didn’t have it, but Miguel Rojas tried to pitch. The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Chicago Cubs 16-to-0.

Roki Sasaki was solid through his five innings. He struggled a little bit with his control when he walked when he walked two but struck out three. He allowed four hits. In the fourth inning, Sasaki loaded the bases with two outs, and Michael Busch looked like he just blasted a grand slam; however, Andy Pages, who had been criticized for his poor defense in center field, made a leaping catch to rob Busch. Sasaki will be better as he matures as a major league pitcher.

While Ben Casparius has been excellent for the Dodgers this year, he had a problem on Saturday. Most pitchers have an occasional problem. Casparius pitched 1.2 innings and allowed 6 runs. He didn’t have his curveball working.

Luis Garcia continued having problems in the eighth when he allowed four runs.

Miguel Rojas relieved Garcia with a scoreless inning.

Rojas continued pitching in the ninth but allowed a double and a two-run homer.
