The Los Angeles Dodgers opened an important road trip with a 4-to-0 loss to the Houston Astros.  The team looked lifeless. The Dodgers missed Freddie Freeman, but he had a family emergency to attend to in Los Angeles.

To begin the game, Shohei Ohtani doubled, stole second, and went to third on sacrifice fly. The Dodgers stranded him. Without Freddie Freeman who has a family emergency, runs would be at a premium for the Dodgers.

Gavin Stone pitched a perfect first.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the second inning.

To open the second, Stone allowed two singles and a walk good for a run but minimized the damage.

The Dodgers did nothing offensively in the third thanks to a marvelous catch on Ohtani’s line drive.

With an out in the third, Stone allowed a solo home run.

In the fourth, the Dodgers still were quiet offensively.

Stone was having a rough night when he allowed a two-run homer in the fourth.

The Dodgers looked lifeless in the fifth.

Stone hurled a scoreless fifth.

In the sixth, the Dodgers wasted a scoring opportunity.

In the seventh, Kiké Hernàndez had a base running error that cost the Dodgers a run.
