The Los Angeles Dodgers finished their nine-game home stand with 7 wins and 2 losses. The Dodgers dominated the Baltimore Orioles throughout the game. Bobby Miller pitched well even though he didn’t finish five innings. The bullpen was fantastic. The offense without Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, and Max Muncy produced. The Dodgers beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-to-3 to become the first major league team to reach 80 wins.
For the third consecutive game, Freddie Freeman missed because of the hairline fracture in his middle finger. According to Dave Roberts, Freeman will play Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Coming off his best start since March, Bobby Miller was perfect in the first with two strikeouts.
With an out in the first, Mookie Betts singled. Betts moved to second on Teoscar Hernández’s ground out. Tommy Edman had an infield single moving Betts to third. Edman stole second. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on a scoring opportunity.
Miller was dominating in the second as he faced the minimum.
Kiké Hernández doubled to open the second. Chris Taylor singled in Hernández. Taylor was erased by a force play for Gavin Lux. The Dodgers couldn’t score any more runs.
Miller walked the first batter in the third and allowed a stolen base. He issued another walk. Miller didn’t allow anything else.
Teoscar Hernández had an infield single with an out in the third. Edman singled moving Teoscar Hernández to second. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on the scoring opportunity.
In the fourth, Miller allowed a single with an out. Miller received a double play to get out of the inning scorelessly.
Taylor opened the fourth with a single. Gavin Lux doubled him to third. Austin Barnes singled in both Taylor and Lux. Betts singled scoring Barnes. Teoscar Hernández walked. Miguel Rojas singled in Betts but got in a run down to end the inning.
Miller hit a batter to open the fifth. With an out, he issued a walk. Miller gave up a three-run homer. He finished the fifth and probably would be taken out before the sixth.
Lux had a single in the fifth with two outs. The Dodgers didn’t score.
Anthony Banda relieved Miller in the sixth. With an out in the sixth, he allowed a single but didn’t let anything else.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the sixth.
After ten days off because before this season, Daniel Hudson had pitched more than 15 innings in 2019. Hudson relieved Banda in the seventh. With two outs, Hudson allowed a single and issued a walk. He issued another walk to load the bases.
Blake Treinen relieved Hudson with two outs in the seventh. He struck out the last batter of the inning to strand the bases loaded.
Miguel Rojas doubled with two outs in the seventh. Taylor walked. The Dodgers didn’t score.
Treinen continued pitching in the eighth and had a perfect inning.
Barnes opened the eighth with a single and stole second. Betts walked. Teoscar Hernández walked to load the bases. Barnes scored on a sacrifice fly. The Dodgers didn’t score any more runs.
Evan Phillips relieved Treinen in the ninth. Despite walking the first batter, he preserved the victory.
