Kiké Hernández’s Heroics Secure Los Angeles Dodgers’ 10-Inning Triumph

Before the game, the Los Angeles Dodgers saluted Matt Kemp as he retired from baseball as a Dodger. Tyler Glasnow pitched well for seven innings, but Anthony Banda allowed two runs. Teoscar Hernández and Kiké Hernández did their job offensively while the Dodgers left many runners in scoring position. On a sunny Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium in ten innings, the Los Angeles Dodgers inched out the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-to-5 to complete the sweep.

Tyler Glasnow started Sunday, and his place in the Dodger starting rotation was emphasized its importance with the news of River Ryan being lost for the season. Glasnow hurled a perfect first inning.

With two outs in the first, Freddie Freeman doubled and scored on Will Smith’s double. Amed Rosario singled in Smith. Rosario stole second but was stranded.

Glasnow pitched a perfect second inning.

Kiké Hernández opened the second with a single, and Andy Pages doubled Hernández to third. Teoscar Hernández doubled in two runs.

Glasnow allowed a double with an out in the third and a two-run homer with two outs.

With an out in the third, Rosario walked but was caught stealing.

To begin the fourth, Glasnow allowed an infield single but faced the minimum.

Kiké Hernández began the fourth with a single, and Pages walked. Kevin Kiermaier sacrificed the runners up. The Dodgers stranded the runners.

With two outs in the fifth, Glasnow allowed a single and a stolen base. He hurled a scoreless inning.

Freeman walked to start the fifth but was stranded.

Glasnow issued a walk with two outs in the sixth but stranded the runner.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the sixth.

With two outs in the sixth, Shohei Ohtani tripled. Teoscar Hernández walked.

To open the seventh, Glasnow allowed a double but didn’t allow a run.

Miguel Rojas singled with two outs in the seventh but was left.

Anthony Banda relieved Glasnow in the eighth and allowed an infield single. He gave up the tying home run.

Banda couldn’t finish the eighth, so Michael Grove came in and walked a batter. He finished the inning scorelessly.

Pages opened the eighth with a double but didn’t advance.

Joe Kelly pitched a perfect ninth.

Gavin Lux singled with two outs in the ninth but was stranded.

Evan Phillips relieved Kelly in the tenth and allowed a singled that scored a run.

Kiké Hernández doubled scoring Rojas to open the tenth, and Pages walked. Teoscar Hernández’s single won the game.
