Well… I don’t have anything to say. On Tuesday night at Petco Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the San Diego Padres 11-to-1. Matt Sauer allowed 9 runs. Kiké Hernández pitched in three innings.
In the first, the Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively, though Freddie Freeman was robbed of having a home run.
Lou Trivino started for the Dodgers and plunked Fernando Tatis, Jr. Tatis stole second. Mookie Betts made a great play to retire the first out of the inning. Trivino picked off Tatis. Freeman retired Manny Machado, the last out.
Teoscar Hernández singled to open the second but was stranded.
Matt Sauer relieved Trivino in the second and allowed a double with one out. He stranded the runner.
With an out in the third, Dalton Rushing walked but was erased on a force play by Shohei Ohtani. Mookie Betts walked. Freeman walked to load the bases. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on the scoring opportunity.
Sauer continued pitching in the third and issued a walk to Tatis with two outs. He allowed a run-producing double. Then, Machado singled in a run. Sauer allowed a run-producing triple. He retired the last out on a fly ball to Teoscar Hernández.
Michael Conforto walked with two outs in the fourth but was stranded.
Sauer allowed a single to start the fourth and another single. He plunked a batter to load the bases. A run scored on a double play. Sauer struck out Tatis to end the inning.
With an out in the fifth, Shohei Ohtani singled. Freeman singled Ohtani to third. The Dodgers stranded the runners.
Sauer continued pitching in the fifth and allowed a double. Machado singled in a run. He allowed a single. He issued a walk to load the bases. Sauer didn’t allow a run in the inning.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the sixth.
Sauer gave up a solo home run to open the sixth and allowed an infield single. Another single moved Tatis to second. On Machado’s ground ball, the Padres added another run. Sauer issued a walk and a wild pitch, moving Tatis to third. He allowed a two-run single.
Kiké Hernández relieved Sauer. Hernández issued a walk but got out of the inning.
Tommy Edman walked to start the seventh but didn’t go anywhere.
Hernández continued pitching in the seventh. Two runners reached. A wild pitch. Machado singled in two runs. He finished the inning.
With an out in the eighth, Miguel Rojas singled. Max Muncy walked. Michael Conforto singled in Rojas. Edman singled to load the bases, but the Dodgers didn’t score any more.
Hernández continued pitching in the eighth and allowed a single. He issued a walk. He finished the inning scorelessly.
