Kiké Hernández and Mookie Betts Shine as Dodgers Defeat Rays 3-1

On a picturesque Sunday afternoon, Gavin Stone gave the Los Angeles Dodgers exactly what they needed. Kiké Hernández and Mookie Betts supplied the offense. Blake Treinen and Anthony Banda preserved the victory. The Dodgers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-to-1 to keep in front of the Arizona Diamondbacks by 3 games.

Gavin Stone must go deep in the game after the bullpen was used a lot on Saturday. He hurled a perfect first inning.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the first.

Stone pitched a perfect second inning.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the second.

Stone used 11 pitches in the third to pitch another perfect inning.

Hunter Feduccia walked with an out in the third but was left.

With an out in the fourth, Stone allowed a single but didn’t allow anything else.

Mookie Betts opened the fourth with a walk. Freddie Freeman singled moving Betts to second. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on the scoring threat.

In the fifth, Stone allowed two walks and a wild pitch. He got out of the jam.

Kiké Hernández socked a home run in the fifth.

Stone allowed a double but got out of the jam scorelessly in the sixth.

With two outs in the sixth, Teoscar Hernandez walked and stole second. Tommy Edman walked. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on the scoring opportunity.

Stone allowed a home run to Johnny DeLuca to open the seventh. He was perfect.

Feduccia got his first major league hit with an out in the seventh. The Dodgers didn’t score.

Blake Treinen relieved Stone in the eighth. With an out, Treinen allowed a single but didn’t let anything else.

A pitch hit Shohei Ohtani’s wrist. Mookie Betts hit a two-run homer. Edman singled with two outs in the eighth. Max Muncy was hit by a pitch in the back. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on the scoring opportunity any further.

Anthony Banda relieved Treinen in the ninth With an out, Banda allowed a single to DeLuca, a former Dodger. Banda preserved the victory.
