Walker Buehler’s struggles continued on a hot Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. The Dodger bullpen was great, not allowing a run since the beginning of the fifth. Gavin Lux, Max Muncy, and Jason Heyward homered to help the Dodgers have a comeback victory. The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Seattle Mariners 6-to-3.
Walker Buehler allowed a double with two outs in the first and two walks to load the bases. He allowed two runs on a single. Buehler didn’t have any command with two strikes. He limited the damage.
Freddie Freeman doubled with two outs in the first but was left.
Buehler walked a batter to open the second. He allowed a bunt single. Buehler started a double play enabled him to get out of the inning scorelessly.
With two outs in the second, Max Muncy walked but was stranded.
To lead off the third, Buehler allowed a single and a stolen base. He walked a batter. He gave up a double that scored a run. Buehler hadn’t struck out anyone, and the Mariners were the team that struck out the most in baseball history. He retired the second out. He stranded the runners on second and third.
Shohei Ohtani tripled with an out in the third, and Freeman walked. The Dodgers stranded the runners.
To start the fourth, Buehler struck out a batter. He gave up a double. Buehler got out of the jam scorelessly.
Lux homered to start the fourth, his tenth. Muncy launched a home run. Kevin Kiermaier had an infield single.
Alex Vesia relieved Buehler in the fifth. He hurled a perfect frame.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the fifth.
Ryan Brasier relieved Vesia in the sixth with a perfect frame.
Brasier started the seventh, but after Lux over ran the ball allowing a runner to reach with an out, Anthony Banda relieved Banda. He quickly retired two batters.
Tommy Edman doubled to start the seventh, and Mookie Betts’ double drove in Edman.
Joe Kelly relieved Banda in the eighth. With two outs, Kelly issued a walk. The ump was calling strikes balls and vice versa. Smith caught the runner stealing.
Smith was hit by a pitch with an out in the eighth. Muncy walked. Jason Heyward, pinch-hitting for Kiké Hernàndez, blasted a three-run homer to give the Dodgers the lead.
Daniel Hudson relieved Kelly who got the win in the ninth. While Hudson gave up a hit, he preserved the win.
