On a picturesque Sunday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers swatted the New York Mets 9-to-0. Jack Flaherty pitched great for seven innings, exactly what they needed. The Dodgers linked hits together to score everything. The Dodgers have 33 consecutive scoreless innings. The Dodgers need seven wins to become world champions.

For the first time since 2020, the Los Angeles Dodgers have made it to the NLCS with home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. While the Dodgers are missing Alex Vesia, one of their best relievers, the Dodgers’ bullpen is a strength. The last time the Dodgers met the New York Mets in the postseason was in 2015 when the Mets took the NLDS in five games, but nobody forgets the epic 1988 NLCS where the Dodgers toppled the mighty Mets in seven games.

Jack Flaherty started for the Dodgers, and he was the most reliable Dodger starting pitcher after he came to the Dodgers at the trading deadline from the Detroit Tigers. Flaherty was perfect in the first.

With an out in the first, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman walked. Teoscar Hernández walked to load the bases Will Smith flew out. Max Muncy singled in Betts and Freeman.

Flaherty was perfect again in the second inning.

Gavin Lux led off the second with a walk. Tommy Edman sacrificed Lux to second. Shohei Ohtani singled in Lux. Ohtani was thrown out trying to steal.

In the third, Flaherty was flawless.

Freeman singled to open the third but was stranded.

To open the fourth, Flaherty walked Francisco Lindor and Pete Alfonso. He didn’t allow anything else.

Kiké Hernàndez singled to open the fourth and was sacrificed to second by Lux. Edman singled scoring Hernández. Ohtani doubled in Edman. Freeman singled in Ohtani.

In the fifth, Flaherty allowed a single. Flaherty didn’t allow any runs.

Smith walked to start the fifth but was stranded.

Flaherty gave the Dodgers a perfect sixth inning.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the sixth inning.

Flaherty continued pitching in the seventh. Kevin Kiermaier already made his presence when he made a fantastic defensive play in center field. Flaherty was perfect in the seventh.

Freeman left the game after seven innings. The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the seventh.

Daniel Hudson relieved Flaherty in the eighth. He issued two walks to open the inning.  Hudson wiggled out of the jam scorelessly.

Kiké Hernández singled to begin the eighth. Kiermaier reached on an error. Ohtani walked to load the bases with one out. Betts doubled in three runs. Chris Taylor’s ground out moved Betts to third.

Ben Casparius relieved Hudson in the ninth. He ended the victory.
