about me

Welcome to Dodger Place

Since 1977, I have been an ardent Los Angeles Dodger fan. While in high school, I was the statistician for my school’s baseball team. Although my team was lousy, I loved the job and vowed to have a career in baseball.

I went to Pasadena City College, the same junior college as Jackie Roosevelt Robinson. While attending junior college, I began keeping a Dodger journal where I jotted down my ideas and opinions about my favorite team. I never considered being a baseball journalist since my English teachers disliked my composition. My grammar was not perfect, and my writing style was simplistic.

Dodgers’ Bullpen Challenges: Injury Updates for 2025

Sunday, March 9, 2025 Copyrighted by Sarah Morris, 2025 Perhaps, many Dodger fans have noticed they haven’t seen Michael Grove this spring. He will miss the entire 2025 season. Since his 2022 major league debut, Grove has been a journeyman. He has filled in as a starter or a long reliever. As a journeyman, Grove has twenty wins and seven losses with a 5.48 ERA. Before Grove reached the major leagues, he had gone through Tommy John surgery. The Dodgers have had a healthy spring training but have had injuries to the bullpen. Michael Kopech has forearm tightness, and Evan […]

A beautiful Wednesday afternoon in Mesa, Arizona

Wednesday, March 5, 2025 Copyrighted by Sarah Morris, 2025 A beautiful Wednesday afternoon in Mesa, Arizona, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 5-to-3. Landon Knack had a rough first inning with two solo home runs. He probably will start in the minor leagues, but when the Dodgers need a starter or a long man, he will be the first one promoted. In the second, Knack was struggling and allowed a run. Kiké Hernández doubled to lead off the second. Austin Barnes singled Hernández to third. Hernández scored on a ground ball. In the third, the Dodgers didn’t […]

The Dodgers May Need to Consider Another Shortstop Than Lux

Monday, March 4, 2024 Copyrighted by Sarah Morris, 2024 Coming back from a horrible knee injury, Gavin Lux is slated to be an everyday shortstop for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Offensively, he has been doing well offensively, but he has struggled defensively. Shortstop is the most important defensive position on the diamond. A team with World Series aspirations must have a great defensive shortstop. From 2016 to 2022, the Dodgers had superstar shortstops, Corey Seager and Trea Turner, but the organization let both of them go elsewhere as free agents. Shortstop is the natural position for Lux. Despite the time […]

Dodgers Triumph Over Reds: Key Highlights from Spring Training

Tuesday, March 4, 2025 Copyrighted by Sarah Morris, 2025 On a picturesque Tuesday night at Camelback Ranch, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Cincinnati Reds 4-to-2. It’s two weeks until Opening Day. Yoshinobu Yamamoto is slated to be the Opening Day starter in Japan. Although he allowed a two-run homer in the first, he pitched magnificently for four innings. So far, Yamamoto has been healthy and effective in the Cactus League. Making his Cactus League, Roki Sasaki was impressive even though he was battling nerves. He hurled three scoreless innings. While he allowed two hits and a walk, he struck […]

Since 1977, I have been an avid Dodger fan. In high school, I was my school’s baseball statistician and vowed to have a career in baseball.

After graduating from Pasadena City College, I started writing about my favorite team seriously before I became a professional. After I wrote to Bill Plaschke, a columnist for the Los Angeles Times, my love for the Dodgers in “Her Blue Haven.” I have been featured on Good Morning America and in Reader’s Digest. For seventeen years, I worked as a freelance writer for Major League Baseball Advanced Media. I wrote for Dodger Nation four months in 2023.

Dodger Place gives a casual Dodger fan a quick Dodger overview. A missed game? We got you with a less than 400-word game report. You don’t understand why Dave Roberts did this. No problem. I will give you a 300-word explanation. A player gets injured, and I will write a less than 500-word article about the impact of the injury.
