On Monday, the Los Angeles Dodgers put Tyler Glasnow on the IL with right shoulder inflammation and total body soreness. The Dodgers recalled Noah Davis.

The Dodgers are confident that Glasnow doesn’t have shoulder structural problems. During the offseason, he adopted a new delivery to ease the stress on his valuable right arm. Throughout spring training, the new delivery caused no problems, but now, it is. While on the IL, the Dodger pitching coaching staff will work with Glasnow on finding a delivery that doesn’t cause any problems after the inflammation calms down.

The Dodgers have a starting rotation problem. With Blake Snell and Glasnow on the IL, the Dodgers have two spots in the rotation to fill. On Wednesday, Tony Gonsolin will return from having Tommy John surgery in August 2023. During spring training, Gonsolin looked great before injuring his back. The Dodgers need Gonsolin to regain his 2022 All-Star form.

The Dodgers have options for the other spot in the rotation before May 18th when Clayton Kershaw can return to the major leagues. Ben Casparius can be a starter. In the minor leagues, he was a starter, and he made his first major league career start in the 2024 World Series. During his World Series start, nothing affected him.

The Dodgers can adjust Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki from a 6-day to 5-day pitching schedule. This might affect the effectiveness of Yamamoto and Sasaki for a little while, but the Dodgers can return to a 6-man rotation when Kershaw returns. The Dodgers will survive Glasnow’s trip to the IL.
