First Dodger Loss

Despite a terrific start by Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost their first game of the 2025 season. The Dodgers lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 3-to-2.

The Dodgers went down in order in the first.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a double to Trea Turner with one out in the first. Yamamoto’s throwing error scored Turner. Yamamoto didn’t allow anything else.

Teoscar Hernández singled. The Dodgers wasted a scoring opportunity.

Yamamoto pitched a scoreless second and third.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the fourth.

With an out in the fourth, Yamamoto allowed a single but nothing else.

In the fifth, the Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively.

Yamamoto was perfect in the fifth.

With an out in the sixth, Andy Pages walked. Pages was caught stealing.

Yamamoto opened the sixth by walking Turner but was erased with a double play. Yamamoto didn’t allow anything else.

With two outs in seventh, Teoscar Hernández singled, and Will Smith walked. Teoscar Hernández stole third. The Dodgers wasted another scoring opportunity.

Kirby Yates relieved Yamamoto in the seventh and issued a walk to start the inning. Yates allowed a double moving the runner to third. He allowed a run. The Phillies scored another run on a ground ball.

Dave Roberts relieved Yates with Luis Garcia and threw a wild pitch to score a run. However, he struck out the batter to end the inning.

With an out in the eighth, Miguel Rojas singled, and Shohei Ohtani singled Rojas to third. The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively.


Garcia was perfect in the eighth.

Mookie Betts walked and scored on Tommy Edman’s homer.
