Dodgers Triumph Over Angels: Game Highlights

A cool night at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Angels 7-to-1. Max Muncy homered.

Freddie Freeman returns to the lineup. Freeman feels better than he did in Japan. The doctor thinks Freeman might have loosened scar tissue from last postseason’s injury.

Mookie Betts was originally in the lineup on Sunday. He was a late scratch since he couldn’t keep down his breakfast. He hasn’t regained the weight that he lost with the stomach flu. He feels better than he did in Arizona but hasn’t regained his strength. The Dodgers hope Betts can play the domestic Opening Day on Thursday.

Blake Snell will be the domestic Opening Day starter. He has won Cy Young awards in the American League and National League. He pitched exceptionally well in an exhibition game in Japan. Since the Dodgers signed Snell, he would be the ace of the Dodger starting rotation.

Jackson Ferris was excellent in the first.

To open the first, Shohei Ohtani walked but was erased on a double play hit into by Freeman.

Ferris walked a batter with an out in the second inning but didn’t allow anything else.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the second.

With two outs in the third, Ferris allowed a solo home run to Tyler Ward but nothing else.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the third.

With an out in the fourth, Ferris allowed two hits, and Dave Roberts relieved him with Ben Casparius. He retired the last out.

With an out in the fourth, Tommy Edman singled and moved to second on Freeman’s grounder to third. Teoscar Hernández couldn’t knock in Edman.

Casparius allowed two singles with two outs in the fifth. Mike Trout had an infield single to load the bases. Casparius escaped from the jam scorelessly.

Max Muncy hit an opposite-field solo home run to start the fifth. With two outs, Miguel Rojas singled, and Andy Pages singled. Chris Taylor struck out to end the fifth.

Jack Dreyer allowed a double with two outs in the sixth and nothing else.

With an out in the sixth, Kiké Hernández walked. A minor leaguer walked. Will Smith was plunked by the pitch to load the bases. Michael Conforto couldn’t make contact with the ball.

Luis Garcia retired the side in order in the seventh inning.

Zephyr Hope and Pages walked to open the seventh against Kenley Jansen. Chris Oakey doubled in Hope and Pages. Kiké Hernández singled, but Oakley was out at the plate. The Dodgers didn’t do any more offensively.

Kirby Yates struck out the side in the eighth.

A Dodger minor leaguer singled to open the eighth. A throwing error allowed that minor leaguer to steal second base. Zephyr Hope had an infield single. An error allowed that minor leaguer to score. Chris Taylor doubled in Hope and Pages. Oakley had an infield single scoring Taylor. Logan Wagner doubled Oakley to third. George walked to load the bases. The Dodgers didn’t score anymore.

Alex Vesia allowed two singles with an out in the ninth but didn’t allow anything else.
