Conforto And Scott Delivered in a Dodger Victory

On a beautiful Thursday afternoon at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers inched out the New York Mets 6-to-5. Landon Knack didn’t have his best stuff, lasting only 3.1 innings, but the bullpen was great. The Dodgers chipped away, and Michael Conforto’s single was the knockout punch. The Dodgers remained a game in front of the San Diego Padres in the National League Western Division.

Landon Knack was perfect in the first.

With an out in the first, Mookie Betts walked but was erased on a force play by Will Smith. The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively.

Pete Alfonso blasted a home run to start the second. He issued a walk with an out. He allowed a stolen base. he issued another walk. Knack got out of the jam without allowing any more runs.

The Dodgers went down in order in the second.

Knack allowed two solo home runs to begin the third. With an out, Knack plunked a hitter. He issued a walk. He allowed a single to load the bases. On a sacrifice fly, the Mets scored a run. Knack finished the third.

Miguel Rojas walked with an out in the third. Shohei Ohtani singled Rojas to third. Betts doubled in Rojas and moved Ohtani to third. Smith singled in Ohtani and moved Betts to third. On Teoscar Hernández’s force play, Betts scored. The Dodgers didn’t score any more.

With an out in the fourth, Knack issued a walk. He allowed a stolen base. He issued another walk. Dave Roberts lifted Knack after 3.1 innings for Jack Dreyer. Dreyer issued a walk to Juan Soto but escaped from the jam scorelessly.

Tommy Edman singled to begin the fourth. Kiké Hernández hit into a double play. The Dodgers went quietly.

With an out in the fifth, Dreyer had a bunt single. After a forced play, Dreyer allowed a single. However, Dreyer escaped from the jam scorelessly.

Ohtani singled with an out in the fifth, and Betts singled Ohtani to second. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on the scoring opportunity.

After Dreyer allowed a single and struck out Soto, Roberts lifted him for José Ureña, who allowed a single. Ureña uncorked a wild pitch to move the runners in scoring position. A strikeout throw-out double play ended the sixth.

Andy Pages singled to start the sixth but was erased on a double play by Edman. The Dodgers sent the minimum in the inning.

Ureña continued pitching in the seventh with a perfect inning.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the seventh.

Ureña continued pitching in the eighth and allowed a double with two outs. Soto was intentionally walked. Alfonso singled in a run. Roberts lifted Ureña for Alex Vesia, who retired the last batter.

To open the eighth, Betts walked, and Smith doubled in Betts. Smith went to third on Teoscar Hernández’s fly ball. Pages reached on an error to score Smith. A wild pitch moved Pages to second. Freddie Freeman was intentionally walked. Michael Conforto singled in Smith, the go-ahead run.

Tanner Scott relieved Ureña in the ninth and allowed a single with two outs. Scott got the save.
