On a beautiful Monday in Goodyear, Arizona, the Cincinnati Reds pummeled the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-to-1. While the Dodgers used most of their major league bullpen, some relievers struggled.
After two outs in the first, Tyler Glasnow gave up two singles and a double good for two runs. Glasnow had satisfactory movement.
In December 2023, the Los Angeles Dodgers traded for Tyler Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays for Ryan Pepiot and Johnny DeLuca. The Dodgers extended Glasnow with a five-year $136 million.
The Dodgers thought Glasnow would be their ace during the 2024 season. In the first half, Glasnow was magnificent, and then injuries came. He couldn’t pitch in his first All-Star break because of his back injury. When he returned from his back injury, he wasn’t effective.
Glasnow’s season ended on August 11th when he had a strained right elbow. Glasnow already had Tommy John surgery. He tried to return for the postseason but couldn’t.
Glasnow tried to adjust his delivery this offseason to lessen the stress on his right elbow. The Dodgers aren’t relying on Glasnow to be their ace after they signed Blake Snell. Glasnow is filthy when healthy, but Glasnow is expected to be the third starter in the rotation. If he doesn’t need another Tommy John surgery, he will be an asset for the Dodgers. Still, if he injures his right elbow, it will allow either Tony Gonsolin or Dustin May to be in the rotation.
Both Anthony Banda and Kirby Yates were impressive in relief. Tanner Scott and Blake Treinen struggled.
