It wasn’t Bobby Miller’s night even though he struck out eight in five innings. When he gave up five runs before recording an out, the Dodgers were cooked. The bullpen performed okay. The offense was overwhelmed by the deficit. On a hot Wednesday night at the Big A, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Los Angeles Angels 10-to-1.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the first.
Bobby Miller walked a batter, hit a batter, and allowed a single to load the bases with no outs in the first inning. He allowed two runs on Anthony Rendon’s single. Then, he allowed a three-run homer. He still had no outs. Miller struck out the side.
With an out in the second, Gavin Lux singled but was stranded.
Miller started the second inning with allowing a solo home run. Using a devastating changeup, Miller got out of the inning without allowing anymore damage.
The Dodgers went down in order in the third inning.
Miller faced the minimum in the third.
Mookie Betts opened the fourth with a single. Freddie Freeman hit the ball hard but hit it into a double play.
Miller was perfect in the fourth.
With two outs in the fifth, Max Muncy walked. Thanks for a great defensive play, Miguel Rojas was stolen of a hit to end the inning.
Miller allowed a solo home run to start the fifth inning. He issued two walks. He escaped from the inning without allowing anymore runs.
The Dodgers did nothing in the sixth.
Michael Grove relieved Miller in the sixth. He gave up a check-swing single with an out but didn’t allow any runs.
With an out in the seventh, Lux singled. Tommy Edman walked. Andy Pages singled in Lux. On a wild pitch, the runners advanced into scoring position. The Dodgers couldn’t score more runs.
Grove allowed a single to start the seventh but didn’t give up anything else.
The Dodgers didn’t score anything in the eighth.
Michael Petersen relieved Grove in the eighth. He allowed two singles. A run scored on another single. He allowed two more runs.
The Dodgers put on two runners on with an out in the ninth, but the Dodgers hit into a double play.
