During the Los Angeles Dodgers’ first exhibition game at Camelback Ranch, a line drive hit Bobby Miller’s head. The 25-year-old righthander will be under concussion protocol. If he acts regularly, the Dodgers will look at when Miller can return to baseball activities.

Miller burst on the major league scene on May 23, 2023, to start against the Atlanta Braves. If the Dodgers didn’t have many pitching injuries in 2023, they would have delayed Miller’s debut so that he could mature as a pitcher and a man. In 2023, Miller made major-league 22 starts with 11 wins, 4 losses, and a 3.74 ERA. He exploded in his first and only playoff start against the NLDS against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He wasn’t mature enough to handle the increased pressure.

In his first start of the 2024 season against the Saint Louis Cardinals, Miller struck out 11 hitters. After two poor starts, Miller went on the IL with right shoulder inflammation. He returned to the major leagues but wasn’t successful. After July 9th, Miller went to Oklahoma City and wasn’t successful.

Entering the 2025 season, Miller hoped to regain his dominance and remind the Dodger organization that he can pitch in the major leagues successfully. Since the Dodgers have a loaded starting rotation, Miller was doubtful that he would be in the Opening Day starting rotation. Being hit in the head was a stroke of bad luck for Miller. Hopefully, Miller can return the Cactus League action.
