A Tired Hudson Allowed Three Runs in the Eighth And the Dodgers Split in Milwaukee

The Los Angeles Dodgers split the series with the Milwaukee Brewers. While Jack Flaherty had his worst outing as a Dodger, he should have won the game. The offense produced four runs, but Daniel Hudson allowed three runs in the eighth. The Dodgers lost to the Brewers 6-to-4, and their lead in the National League Western Division is down to two games.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the first.

Jack Flaherty allowed a double in the first and a two-run homer. He gave up another home run. Flaherty used 26 pitches in the first.

With an out in the second, Gavin Lux singled and moved to third on an error allowing Miguel Rojas to reach second. On a ground out by Jason Heyward, Lux scored. Andy Pages doubled in Rojas.

Flaherty retired the Brewers in order in the second.

With two outs in the third, Freddie Freeman singled. Will Smith singled Freeman to third. Lux singled in Freeman, the tying run.

Flaherty disliked the mound at Miller Park, and he walked the lead-off batter in the third. The runner stole second. Kiké Hernàndez made a fantastic double play. Flaherty faced the minimum in the third.

Heyward singled to start the fourth but was erased on a double play to end the inning.

Flaherty faced the minimum in the fourth inning.

Shohei Ohtani singled to open the fifth. Ohtani went to second on a wild pitch. Freeman advanced Ohtani to third on a grounder. The Dodgers stranded Ohtani.

Flaherty walked a batter with two outs in the fifth and allowed a single moving the runner to third. He got out of the jam.

To open the sixth, Lux walked and moved to second on Rojas’ single. Heyward flied out to advance Lux to third. Pages couldn’t score Lux, Kiké Hernández’s single drove Lux home giving the Dodgers the lead.

Michael Kopech relieved Flaherty in the sixth with a perfect inning.

Teoscar Hernández started the seventh with a single and was caught stealing.

Alex Vesia relieved Kopech in the seventh and walked the lead-off batter. He issued another walk. Despite a rough start of the inning, Vesia got out of the jam scorelessly.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the eighth.

Daniel Hudson relieved Vesia in the eighth and allowed a lead-off double. He issued a walk. A grounder had eyes and filled the bases with no outs. A single scored the tying run. A ground out scored another run. Another ground out scored another run.

Dave Roberts relieved Hudson with Anthony Banda who got the last out of the eighth.

Mookie Betts was pinch-hitting for Kiké Hernàndez in the ninth and struck out. The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the ninth.
