A Messy and Forgettable Loss

On a rainy Sunday afternoon at Wrigley Field, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Chicago Cubs 8-to-1. If the Dodgers and the Cubs shared an off day, the game wouldn’t have played because the weather conditions led to a bad game.

Gavin Stone was bothered by the miserable weather conditions and allowed five runs in three innings. He couldn’t control his changeup, and errors by Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.

Gus Varland allowed two runs in the fourth before a three-hour rain delay. Ryan Yarbrough relieved Varland and allowed a solo home run to Cody Bellinger.

Shohei Ohtani tripled, but for the most part, the Dodger offense looked lifeless. Freeman left the game in the seventh inning.

With two outs in the eighth, Betts walked and Ohtani doubled in Betts.

Yarbrough was the MVP of the game because he finished the game without forcing the Dodgers to use another reliever. Although the Dodgers are a great team, they will have days like this.
