When the Los Angeles Dodgers had a thirteen-hour adventure as they returned from New York City, it was understandable that they looked flat against the poorest team in the National League Western Division. Walker Buehler, though he pitched six innings, allowed four runs. The Dodgers could muster only one run against the poorest pitching staff in the major leagues. The Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies 4-to-1.

Before the game, the Dodgers activated Evan Phillips and designated Elieser Hernandez. They needed their closer.

In his fifth start since returning from his second Tommy John surgery, Walker Buehler allowed two singles to begin the game. He didn’t have a good command of his pitches and walked a batter to load the bases with an out. He stranded every baserunner.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything in the first offensively.

Despite allowing a walk, Buehler faced the minimum thanks to a beautiful double play in the second.

The Dodgers’ offense did nothing in the second. They might be sleepy after arriving in LA at 7AM on Thursday after spending 13 hours on the plane.

In the third, Buehler allowed a single and a walk, and Kris Bryant singled in a run. Buehler served a belt-high fastball. Andy Pages made an error in center field good for two runs. Buehler was wild. He got out of the jam.

Andy Pages, batting ninth, singled but didn’t score.

In the fourth, Buehler allowed a solo home run but didn’t allow anything else.

With two outs in the fourth, Will Smith singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. The Dodgers stranded him.

Buehler was perfect in the fifth.

With one out in the fifth, Gavin Lux singled and was erased on a force play hit into by Miguel Rojas. Pages struck out to end the inning.

Buehler continued pitching in the sixth and hurled perfectly. He would be finished for the night.

The top of the Dodger lineup didn’t do anything in the sixth.

Anthony Banda relieved Buehler in the seventh and started his appearance with a walk. Smith caught the runner trying to steal, so Banda faced the minimum.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything in the seventh.

Nick Ramirez hurled a perfect eighth.

To open the eighth, Lux doubled and Rojas walked. Pages singled to load the bases. Mookie Betts grounded into a double play while Lux scored. Shohei Ohtani walked. Freddie Freeman struck out to end the scoring threat.

Ramirez continued in the ninth and gave up a one-out walk and picked off the runner. He gave up a triple. Alex Vesia relieved Ramirez and got the last out in the ninth.
