On a beautiful Tuesday evening in Washington, D. C., the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers beat the fourth-place Washington Nationals 4-to-1.

James Paxton wasn’t sharp and allowed a run in the second.  In the third, he settled down to retire the opposition in order.  Despite walking a batter in the fourth, Paxton faced the minimum. In the fifth, he allowed a single and a stolen base with two outs.  After a walk, Dave Roberts took out Paxton.

The Dodgers left runners on base every inning while not scoring through the third.  In the fifth, Mookie Betts singled and moved to second base on an error. He was stranded.

Michael Grove got the last out of the fifth.

With two outs in the sixth, Teoscar Hernández singled and Max Muncy walked.  Kiké Hernández singled in Teoscar.

Grove continued in the sixth and walked the leadoff hitter. With Two out in the sixth, Roberts took out Grove for Alex Vesia who got the last out.

With two outs in the seventh, Shohei Ohtani walked and went to third on Freddie Freeman’s single, but they were left.

Vesia allowed an infield single but picked off the runner as he pitched a perfect seventh.

In the eighth, T Hernàndez walked and stole second. James Outman doubled in Hernàndez. Miguel Rojas singled in Outman.

Daniel Hudson got out of a jam in the eighth.

Ohtani blasted a home run in the ninth, 450

Evan Phillips uncharacteristically struggled he collected his sixth save.
