A beautiful Wednesday afternoon in Mesa, Arizona, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 5-to-3.

Landon Knack had a rough first inning with two solo home runs. He probably will start in the minor leagues, but when the Dodgers need a starter or a long man, he will be the first one promoted. In the second, Knack was struggling and allowed a run.

Kiké Hernández doubled to lead off the second. Austin Barnes singled Hernández to third. Hernández scored on a ground ball.

In the third, the Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively.

Ben Casparius relieved Knack in the third with a perfect inning.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively against Kenley Jansen in the fourth.

After Casparius retired the first batter of the fourth, Dave Roberts relieved him with Luis Garcia who retired the next two batters.

To open the fifth, Eddie Rosario homered.

Alex Vesia pitched a perfect fifth with ten pitches

Miguel Rojas singled and went to the third to start the sixth, and Chris Taylor walked. Kiké Hernández doubled in both runners. Hernández went to third on a passed ball. Barnes walked. Rosario singled in two runs.

Anthony Banda relieved Vesia in the sixth. With an out, Banda allowed a single. He coaxed the batter to hit into a double play.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the seventh.

Jared Karros began the seventh and was victimized by an error by the third baseman. He walked a batter. He escaped from the jam scorelessly.

Alex Freeland singled to begin the eighth, and Chris Oakey singled. They didn’t score.

Karros continued pitching in the eighth inning with a perfect frame.

The Dodgers stranded two runners in the ninth.

While Karros walked a batter to begin the ninth, he was lifted for Joe Jaques was perfect in the ninth.
