Kershaw Leads the Dodgers to Victory

On a hot Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium, Clayton Kershaw turned back the clock as he led the Los Angeles Dodgers to snap their two-game losing streak. The Dodgers’ offense finally woke up in Saint Louis. Michael Kopech made his 2025 season debut. The Dodgers beat the Saint Louis Cardinals 7-to-3. Going into San Diego, the Dodgers lead the Padres by a game in the Western Division.

Clayton Kershaw went five innings and allowed one run. For the first time since June 2023, Kershaw struck out 7. His command was much better than any start this season. He kept the Cardinals off balance.

For the first time this weekend, the Dodgers’ offense was working. In the second, Max Muncy and Will Smith singled, and Tommy Edman’s single scored my. Hyeseong Kim tripled in Smith and Edman.

To start the fourth, Smith tripled and scored on Edman’s single.

In the seventh, Mookie Betts hit a home run to left field. The Dodgers added two more runs.

Lou Trivino pitched well in the sixth. While Jack Dreyer struggled in the seventh, Kirby Yates, who just returned from the IL, killed the rally in the seventh. Tanner Scott continued his newly found dominance in the eighth. For the first time, Michael Kopech pitched and did well despite allowing a lead-off single.
