Dodgers Powered Against the Marlins, And Used Freeman and Ohtani’s Homers

On Monday night at Loan Depot Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Miami Marlins 7-to-4 in a bullpen game. Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani highlighted the offensive assault. Hyeseong Kim had a night with two first major league hits and RBI. Despite Yoendrys Gomez, the Dodger bullpen was marvelous.

Teoscar Hernández left the game in the fourth with hamstring tightness.

With an out in the first, Mookie Betts singled and scored on Teoscar Hernández’s double. The Dodgers didn’t score any more.

Jack Dreyer used 7 pitches to hurl a perfect first inning.

The Dodgers went down in order in the second.

Dreyer continued pitching in the second and got an out. Then, Ben Casparius relieved him and allowed a two-out single. He allowed a stolen base. He issued a walk. He escaped from the jam scorelessly.

With an out in the third, Shohei Ohtani walked and stole second. Freddie Freeman blasted a two-run homer. Teoscar Hernández singled but was left.

Casparius continued pitching in the third, and with two outs, he issued a walk. He abandoned the runner.

The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the fourth.

Casparius continued pitching in the fourth with a perfect inning.

Hyeseong Kim collected his first major league hit to begin the fifth. Kim stole second and scored on Ohtani’s monstrous home run. The Dodgers didn’t do any more harm in the fifth.

Casparius continued pitching in the fifth and allowed a one-out single. The runner went to second on a groundout. Casparius didn’t allow anything else.

In the sixth, Andy Pages had an infield single with two outs. Michael Conforto singled, moving Pages to second. Kim drove in Pages with a single.

With an out in the sixth, Casparius allowed a double and a single. He gave up a run-scoring single. Dave Roberts relieved Casparius with Alex Vesia. Vesia closed out the inning scorelessly.

On an infield single, Mookie Betts reached to start the seventh and went to third on Freeman’s single. Chris Taylor’s double scored Betts. The Dodgers didn’t do any more damage in the inning.

Evan Phillips relieved Vesia in the seventh and allowed a lead-off single. He gave up another single. Phillips escaped from the jam scorelessly.

Pages tripled to begin the eighth but didn’t go anywhere.

Yoendys Gomez relieved Evan Phillips in the eighth and allowed two singles with one out. Gomez allowed a three-run homer. A runner reached on an error by Freeman.

Dave Roberts relieved Gomez with Tanner Scott with an out in the eighth. Scott hurled a wild pitch, advancing the runner into scoring position, and walked the batter. Scott escaped from the jam scorelessly.

The Dodgers went down in order in the ninth.

Kirby Yates relieved Scott in the ninth.
