On a cool Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat up on the Pittsburgh Pirates 9- to-2. This win has a shadow over it with Tyler Glasnow with a right shoulder injury coming out after an inning, but the bullpen performed superbly. Everyone in the Dodger lineup contributed to the final score. Andy Pages had four hits, including a two-run homer, and Teoscar Hernández blasted his 200th home run of his major league career.

After an inning in which he allowed two solo home runs, Tyler Glasnow experienced shoulder pain while warming up for the second inning. Immediately, Dave Roberts pulled the talented right-hander out of the game, putting more stress on an already taxed bullpen. The Dodger bullpen has hurled the most innings in the major leagues, and this is not sustainable for the entire season. However, with the apparent right shoulder injury for Glasnow, the Dodgers will need more bullpen games until Clayton Kershaw is eligible to be taken off the 60-day IL.

Since the Dodgers acquired Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays, Glasnow has had difficulty staying on the mound. He has performed well whenever he could. Last year, Glasnow became an All-Star for the first time in his nine-year major league career, but he couldn’t perform in the All-Star Game because of a back injury.

While Glasnow returned from his back injury, he couldn’t pitch after August 11, 2024, because of a strained elbow. This left Jack Flaherty, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Walker Buehler carrying the team through the postseason. Although Glasnow hurled the most innings in a season during his career, Glasnow was supposed to be the Dodger ace.

Glasnow is 6’7and has had back problems and leg cramps. To ease the stress on his right elbow, which had Tommy John surgery in 2021, Glasnow altered his delivery. During spring training, he looked fantastic, but when the 2025 season began, Glasnow struggled with endurance in his starts. In Philadelphia, making his second start, Glasnow couldn’t deal with the slippery mound due to rainy conditions, though he could ask the ground crew to work on the mound, and left after two innings. After he pitched six innings against the Chicago Cubs, he had to leave his last start against the Texas Rangers due to leg cramps. Now, Glasnow is probably headed for the IL.
