The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Tigers 3-to-1. Tuesday, the Dodgers open their regular season against the Chicago Cubs.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the first.
Blake Snell had two strikeouts in his perfect first inning.
With two outs in the second, Will Smith walked but didn’t advance.
Snell was brilliant in the second.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything in the third.
Snell was filthy in the third as he recorded three consecutive batters.
The Dodgers struck out twice as they went down in order in the fourth.
Snell walked the first batter in the fourth, and a single moved the runner to the third. He allowed a three-run homer. He gave up a double and walked a batter. He finally escaped the fourth after throwing 34 pitches.
Max Muncy led off the fifth with a single but was erased on a double play.
Snell retired the first batter in the fifth. After throwing 80 pitches, Snell was relieved by Matt Sauer. Sauer allowed a single. He escaped the jam scorelessly.
Andy Pages singled with an out in the sixth but didn’t advance.
Tyler Glasnow relieved Sauer in the sixth. With two outs, he allowed a single but didn’t allow anything else.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the seventh.
Glasnow escaped a runner on third jam scorelessly.
Austin Barnes singled to open the eighth but was erased on a double play hit into by Chris Taylor.
The Dodgers’ offense was quiet in the ninth.
Glasnow pitched the bottom of the ninth because he needed more work. With two outs, Glasnow issued a walk. He allowed an infield single and balked. He issued another walk to load the bases.
